When returning your animals home,
- remove all debris from fields, pastures or anywhere that animals roam. Look carefully for any small or hidden objects that could injure your animals.
- carefully inspect any remaining animal food for damage from fire, smoke, debris, chemicals, or heat damage.
- make sure animals do not ingest or inhale burned plant material and do not feed animals on the ground.
- only give your animals clean water and keep them away from water sources which have not been tested for bacteria.
- keep feeders and troughs clean at all times.
- keep animals hydrated with plenty of fresh water (watch for ash contamination) to avoid dehydration and heat stress.
- keep animals indoors or in the shade and confined in an area where stresses will be minimized.
